Crystal Garden Resort & Restaurant, Cairns

The hotel has its ups and downs. The rooms are clean and comfortable, but the smell of cigarette smoke was quite overwhelming at times, and the presence of mold in the shower was off-putting; however, the two double beds were a plus despite the absence of single beds.

My stay at Crystal Garden was pleasant overall. The rooms were clean and had all the necessary facilities, but unfortunately, there was a strong smell of urine coming from the shower which was not ideal. The service provided by Fei and the staff was exceptional and very friendly. The location, while not within walking distance to the city center, had convenient transportation options nearby. The dining experience, especially the breakfast, exceeded my expectations with attentive staff. However, the property needed better maintenance to enhance the overall experience.

The hotel rooms were okay, but better than expected considering the price. They needed a good clean, with a filthy fan and bathroom requiring scrubbing. Lack of coat hangers in the wardrobe and no cold boiled water or glasses in the fridge. The blankets need replacing with cleaner options, and a picture on the wall was hung upside down. The location is a bit away from the Cairns center but accessible with public transport, being only a 10-minute drive to the CBD. The staff were helpful, with nice amenities like a swimming pool and walking distance to the Esplanade. The dining was average with limited breakfast options. The hotel had good facilities like laundry, welcome drink, and tour/ticket assistance.
